Scruffs Alpine Atlas Cat Tree - Taupe

The Scruffs Alpine Atlas is a mid-height cat tree in taupe, 75cm tall, with a sisal scratching post, a padded perch, a small bed on top and pom poms to bat at.

It suits a single cat, or a couple of kittens who need something better to scratch than the sofa.

The posts are pear wood wrapped in sisal rope. Cats like scratching real wood, and the sisal gives them a second, rougher texture. The beds and platforms are covered in a thick textured faux fur over a recycled polyester filling, and the bedding comes off for the wash.

Two things worth knowing. The base and platforms are chipboard, not solid wood. And the bed is 25cm across, which suits a kitten or an average-sized cat but not a fully grown Maine Coon. For a bigger cat, the Alpine Colorado has a 30cm bed, a 35cm perch and a cave.

For one cat in a room where floor space matters, this is the one we would go with. It comes flat-packed and needs putting together. The tools are in the box.

Scruffs photograph it with three Maine Coon kittens.
