What the letter codes mean

Prescription Diet uses two-letter codes rather than names. Each letter is a mnemonic for what the diet is for:

  • c/d Crystals, for urinary health and struvite management
  • d/d Dermatology, for food sensitivities and skin
  • i/d Intestinal, for digestive and gastrointestinal problems
  • k/d Kidney, for renal care, with a separate Early Stage version
  • m/d Metabolic, for weight and glucose management
  • t/d Teeth, for dental care
  • y/d For thyroid care
  • z/d For food sensitivities, using hydrolysed protein

Metabolic and Gastrointestinal Biome are named rather than coded. Match the code on your vet's note exactly, because similar-looking codes are entirely different foods and c/d Multicare and c/d Urinary Stress are not interchangeable either.
