...just had his booster/check-up visit. Absolutely healthy, and is perfect weight. Even his bad teeth are really good now. I never would have fed him anything with any grain in it, except that he wound up very poorly and severely blocked earlier this year, and this was prescribed (not the metabolic, but that was what was available from PetPlanet at the time). He lost a bit of weight, which wasn't actually needed; he was only slightly overweight, and that was due to him overeating because he was on the streets for an estimated five years and was unneutered and so thin when he found us. Having other rescues, he ate as much as possible, being so used to never knowing when he'd eat again and feeling like he had to eat every bit in his bowl immediately. Once we got the RFD bowls, and he realised only he could access his dish (we have one food hog, so it was necessary anyway, to get the others' weight down), he really backed off and eats normally now, and only when he's hungry. But since he's so perfectly healthy, I see no reason to change the food. We usually feed them a raw diet, when we can, but we haven't found the quality for cat food in the UK, unfortunately. So they get one meal of half raw turkey, half metabolic. They're happy with it.
