The Scruffs Alpine Box Bed is a deep faux fur dog bed in taupe. The fur is thick-cut, the walls are high and padded for a head to rest on, and the filling is 100% recycled polyester.

It suits a dog who likes to feel tucked in, and the walls keep out draughts. It has a non-slip base.

Washing depends on size. The Medium goes in the machine whole. The Large and X-Large have a cover that comes off for washing, with a water-resistant liner underneath.

Long faux fur holds on to mud and hair. For a dog who comes in dirty every day, the Expedition Box Bed has a water-resistant outer that wipes and washes easily.

For a house dog who likes to snuggle down, this is the one we would go with.

Scruffs photograph it with a Miniature Pomeranian on the Medium, and a Cocker Spaniel and a Golden Retriever on the X-Large.

Washing

  • Gentle machine wash at 30°C with a mild detergent.
  • Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Dry flat.
  • Colour can transfer, particularly when wet.

Safety

  • Check it regularly for wear, and replace it if it is damaged or any part comes loose.
  • Pets can chew things unexpectedly. If yours swallows any of the material, ring your vet straight away.

The walls take up part of that, so the space your dog actually lies in is smaller. Measure your dog curled up asleep. That needs to fit inside the walls, not within the outside size. If your dog is between two sizes, go up. Box beds suit dogs who curl up. If your dog sleeps stretched out flat, a mattress will suit them better.
